LaRissa “Lady Lavish” Dodson is a formally well-known rap artist from Indianapolis. Some of her accomplishments as a female artist include being the first female showcased on the radio by Dj Rusty and the first to premiere on World Star with the collaboration of “Midwest Swag” also featuring two heavy-hitter artists from Naptown; Big Dave and Hardtimes. This was the 1st released single off the Stop Beefin Start Eatin compilation of Naptown Artists created by St James, Matt Sims, and all produced by Sir Hart. This single would later be nominated for a Justo award in NYC.
She has opened up for many mainstream artists and has won countless awards for Best Female Rap Artist and Hottest In The Game. Outside of lyrically holding her own she also captivated her audience with her beauty; both inside and out. She has ripped many runways and had modeling contracts with both Helen Wells Agency and Kristie of Chicago. She has represented the Indiana Black Expo African American Heritage Festival which is a popular event that people travel to from all over the world held in Indianapolis every year.
Before blessing the mic and the modeling contracts she was a dancer in a group called Feature Presentation that competed in the popular talent competition, Star Quest, that was a highlight of the Indiana Black Expo. She has been a competitor in both Miss Indiana USA and Miss Indiana Teen USA pageants which landed her many trophies and crowned Miss Photogenic. You can add winning Miss Glamour Shots Indiana to her list of accomplishments as well. Being that she had so much experience on stage performing or modeling runways she fit right in with one of biggest events in Indianapolis; The Move Over New York Studio 54 Hair Show.
She performed with Sophisti Cuts Hair salon for many years whom were the grand finale of the show. One of her inspirations for her new venture is her dedicated makeup artist from the salon she modeled for, Cathy Robinson-Garr. “Cathy had visions of her creations and easily transformed me into someone else with her vibrant color selections. I was always a sparkling Goddess. At that point I fell in love with glitter.”- Lady Lavish
